RETIRED – Benefits of Buying Certified Pre-owned

You’re well aware of the advantages of buying a used vehicle. Its price savings rewards you with lower monthly payments and less registration, licensing, taxes, and insurance. You’re worried though about its reliability. Who knows how the car fared under the previous owner? It may suffer from hidden problems that don’t show up until after you bring your purchase home. And you have no warranty to back your repairs.

At Preston Hood Chevrolet in Fort Walton Beach, FL, we address your concerns through a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. The following addresses the benefits that this designation grants your purchase.

History

Before it can be considered for the CPO program, a vehicle must be less than six years old, have a maximum of 75,000 miles, have a clean title, and pass a Vehicle History Report. You get a free CARFAX® report that details that vehicle’s history including the number of previous owners, whether it’s been in any accidents, and any service background. It then undergoes a 172-point inspection to ensure that it meets our high standards, which includes verifying all safety recalls and checking such components as the engine, interior, and exterior.

Warranties

Arguably, the most important advantage of a CPO car is the two warranties that go with it.

• The Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty lasts for 12 months or 12,000 miles. You pay no deductibles and receive coverage on almost every part of the vehicle except for some such exclusions, such as damage due to accidents, collisions, theft, or alterations to the vehicle.
• The Limited Powertrain Warranty lasts for 6 years or 100,000 miles. It also has no deductible and can be transferred to another owner if you decide to sell or give your car to someone else. It covers the engine, transmission, and drive systems but includes exclusions that are similar to those for the Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty.

Roadside Assistance

You get 24-hour Roadside Assistance for as long as your Limited Powertrain Warranty lasts. If you suffer a breakdown, you can contact a trained advisor 365 days a year to get your flat tire changed using your spare, jump-start your battery, receive emergency fuel delivery, and more. You can also be towed to the nearest Chevrolet dealer.

If your vehicle requires a warranty repair, you don’t have to wait around for it. You’ll get either Courtesy Transportation or have your transportation expenses reimbursed.

Scheduled Maintenance

You get two free scheduled maintenance visits at our Service Departments, which is staffed by factory-certified automotive technicians. This includes a multi-point inspection, tire rotation, and changing your oil and oil filter.

Trials

If your CPO vehicle is so equipped, you get trial runs of subscription services that make your drive easier.

• One month of the Onstar Premium Plan, which includes Safety & Security and the Connected Vehicle Plan. You can connect with an OnStar Advisor to get help with stolen vehicle recovery, emergency services, or a crash. Use the mobile app to remotely unlock or lock doors, or to start the vehicle, so the climate control system can make the interior comfortable. Your vehicle also turns into a mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot and is monitored through Vehicle Diagnostics.
• Three months of SiriusXM® satellite radio, which offers commercial-free music, play-by-play sports coverage, exclusive celebrity talk, and the latest news. You can access this service from your dashboard, at home on connected devices, or through an app that you download on your smartphone.

Once your trials are over, you can upgrade to a paid subscription.

Rewards

Your purchase entitles you to enroll in the no-cost My GM Rewards Program. You advance through the Silver, Gold, or Platinum tiers depending on how much you spend on Certified Service, genuine parts, eligible accessories, connected services, and OnStar plans.

Each dollar of spending earns you four points that you can use for discounts on vehicle purchases or leases, Certified service, accessories, or parts. You can redeem points on gift cards from many merchants, stores, restaurants, and more. You can also get a statement credit for fuel spending or electrical bill payments if your CPO car is electric. Finally, you receive an allowance when using your rewards for vehicle detailing at a dealership.
